international competition
On behalf of Lomonosov Moscow State University, I am very pleased to welcome the participants of the International Architectural Competition for the new campus of the Faculty of Physics at Lomonosov Moscow State University in Moscow!
With sincere wishes of good luck,
Viktor Antonovich Sadovnichy,
Academician, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University
The Faculty of Physics at Lomonosov Moscow State University is one of the most prestigious faculty of physics in the world. The fundamental and applied research conducted here has formed the scientific potential of Russia, anticipated the future, and opened to humanity the secrets of the universe.
Since its founding in 1933, the Faculty of Physics has become a hub of cutting-edge thinking in both science and education. University professors are outstanding physicists, members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and alumni include numerous Nobel Prize winners. Physics faculty residents have made significant contributions to physics research, and the faculty’s research programs have led to the discovery of new physical phenomena and innovative technologies.
The Faculty of Physics remains a leader in the research of modern areas of science, the development of new technologies. But the future of science is not only connected with the technology development, the future is directly connected with people: scientists, researchers, engineers, who will continue the faculty tradition and create a new scientific era.
The university is now creating an updated intellectual and technological environment, infrastructure, and a community. And the new building should be designed taking into account all the nuances that form the space for the implementation of scientific and creative potential of students and staff. The project's architecture should reflect the rich history and university values, and embody the aspirations for the future that the department lives up to. The Faculty of Physics 2.0 is the new horizons that open up to the scientists of the 21st century.
The main goal of the Competition is to develop a concept for the new building for the Faculty of Physics of Lomonosov Moscow State University in accordance with the best practices for organizing scientific and educational spaces
